QUINCY POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL BE PROVIDING
FREE BASIC BOATING
SAFETY COURSES TO CITIZENS
The Quincy Police Marine Unit, in partnership with the Massachusetts Environmental Police, will be presenting three Basic Boating Safety Courses at no cost to the public. These courses are designed for persons of all ages, regardless of boating skill.
These courses are federally approved, and course completion will allow persons to legally operate a boat in states that require completion of a Basic Boating Safety Course. Everyone who completes a course will be issued a Basic Boating Safety Certificate. Completion of a course by persons between 12 and 16 years of age will allow them to operate a motorboat without adult supervision. In addition, some insurance companies offer policy discounts for customers that complete a Basic Boating Safety Course.
The courses are taught at the Houghs Neck Maritime Center, located at 137 Bay View Ave, in Quincy (next to the Quincy Yacht Club on Sea Street).
The course dates are:
1. March 15, March 22, and March 29
2. April 19, April 26, and May 3rd
3. May 17, May 24, and May 31st

WEYMOUTH AND HINGHAM HARBORMASTER DEPARTMENTS WILL BE PROVIDING FREE BASIC BOATING SAFETY COURSES TO CITIZENS
The Weymouth and Hingham Harbormasters, in partnership with the Hingham Recreation Department and Massachusetts Environmental Police, will be presenting a Basic Boating Safety Course at no cost to the public. These courses are designed for persons of all ages, regardless of boating skill.
These courses are state approved, and course completion will allow persons to legally operate a boat in states that require completion of a Basic Boating Safety Course. Everyone who completes a course will be issued a Basic Boating Safety Certificate. The courses are taught at the Hingham High School classroom 124,
located at 17 Union St, in Hingham.
The course dates are:
April 29th, May 7th, May 14th, May 21st. (6:30 PM – 9:00 PM)
